🔼 3-0! Maryland football polished off non-conference play on Saturday, dominating Towson at SECU Stadium, 44-17, to enter Big Ten play at 3-0!

Malik Washington brought his career passing yard sum to 773 — the most for a true-freshman quarterback through his first three career games in a Power Conference since 2018 — while the defense put together another stout performance that included its first 100-yard pick-six since 1962. The defense's 33 points allowed through three games are its fewest since allowing 30 to start the 2001 season.

🔼 Hot Start. Maryland men’s soccer dominated its Big Ten opener on Friday, beating Wisconsin, 3-1, in Madison.

Leon Koehl scored his first goal in the 23rd minute on a penalty kick. Wisconsin's goalkeeper dove to his right, but Koehl buried it in the back of the net to put the Terps up 1-0. Koehl led all of college soccer in penalty shot goals in 2024 with seven.

🔼 High Performance. Maryland held its official dedication ceremony on Friday night to honor all of those who made the Barry P. Gossett Basketball Performance Center come to life. The evening featured tours of the newest state-of-the-art facility which gives an unmatched training experience to the men's and women's basketball teams. Afterwards, all of those in attendance gathered for dinner in XFINITY to honor Mr. Maryland himself, Barry P. Gossett.

🔼 Got The Invite. No. 10 Maryland field hockey picked up a pair of wins over the weekend at the Maryland Invite, taking down Penn by a 3-1 final score on Friday, and No. 13 Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, 1-0.

Ella Gaitan found the back of the net in the final minute of play against Saint Joseph’s to give the Terps the ranked win.

🔼 Carolina Called. Maryland volleyball split a pair of matches in Winston-Salem, N.C., over the weekend, taking down Davidson in five sets on Saturday before falling to Wake Forest in four sets on Sunday.

The Terps are now 5-3 on the season, with a matchup at Coppin State tomorrow.

🔼 Fast Finish. Maryland women’s cross country ran well at the Spiked Shoe Invitational in State College, Pa., over the weekend, with three Terps finishing in the top 25.

Rose Coats led the way, finishing second overall in a time of 20:18.8.

🔼 Fulfilling A Dream. As a young kid growing up in McLean, Virginia, Dave Neal dreamed of playing basketball for the Terps and then-head coach Gary Williams. 

His father often took him to games at Cole Field House growing up. There, Neal was introduced to the history and winning tradition of Maryland men’s basketball. This naturally molded him into a lifelong Terps fan, who made it his long-term goal to play for the 2002 national champions.  

“I loved basketball and going to Maryland games,” Neal said. “Seeing the fans, the intensity of Coach Williams and the electric environments. Win or lose, Cole Field House was still rocking.”
