🔼 OLYMPIC CHAMPION! Maryland alum Thea LaFond added to her stellar resume over the weekend, winning gold in the triple jump at the Paris Olympics!

LaFond becomes the first gold medalist ever from Dominica while also setting a national record in the event (15.02 meters), and also the first Terp gold medalist in any Olympic Games.

🎟 Fall Single Game Tickets On Sale Now

Single game tickets are on sale now for Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Soccer! Secure your seats for upcoming events in College Park!

🔼 Best For Last. Making his third appearance in an Olympic Games, Maryland track and field assistant coach Rudy Winkler hurled a personal Olympic-best throw of 77.92 meters in the men’s hammer throw final, placing sixth — his best finish ever in the event!

🔼 Goals, Goals, Goals. The leading goal scorer in Olympic field hockey this year?

Yup, that would be Maryland alum Nike Lorenz of Germany, who will be taking on Argentina in the quarterfinals this morning!

🔼 Part Of History. Maryland alum Tom McMillen played for the United States men’s basketball team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, in one of the most controversial gold medal games of all-time — the Soviet Union topped Team USA 51-50 at the buzzer, but not until the game’s final play had been repeated three times.

At Maryland, McMillen was a three-time All-American and left College Park as the all-time leading scorer in program history.

🔼 Mound Presence. Dirty Terp Duke McCarron has spent his summer playing for the Kingsport Axmen of the Appalachian League, where he has struck out 23 hitters in just 14 innings!

🔼 Touch ‘Em All. Former Terp Luke Shliger made his starting pitcher very happy — who doesn’t love a four-run lead before you even step on the mound?

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 26 DAYS

We’ve got 26 days left until Maryland football is back on the field for its season opener against UConn!

Now former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa announced himself in a big way during his first full, non-COVID season in 2021, throwing for 26 touchdowns and leading the Terps to seven wins, including a victory over Virginia Tech in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Of course, he went on to set all sorts of records — in the Maryland record books, he sits atop the list in career completions, completion percentage, yards and touchdowns. And last season, he became the Big Ten’s all-time leading passer with 11,256 yards through the air.

🐢 ONE BIG THING

🔼 Success Story. Quite the story developed at Maryland football’s fall camp late last week — Coach Locksley brought in a D-III player who ended up inspiring the whole team with a rousing speech at practice.

With a speech like that, he should run for office someday!
