Maryland quarterback Jack Scarbath had one of the greatest individual seasons in program history in 1952, earning unanimous First-Team All-America honors, a runner-up finish in the Heisman Trophy voting, Southern Conference Player of the Year, and was the MVP of the East-West Shrine Game.

He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984.
