🔼 Distinguished Terps. The Big Ten Conference announced that 49 Maryland student-athletes competing in intercollegiate athletics were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award recipients for 2024-25.
The list includes student-athletes from 16 different teams who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.
🔼 Eight Are Great. Eight Maryland track and field/cross country student-athletes were named U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic on Wednesday!
Additionally, both the men's and women's track & field teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team distinction.

🔼 Taking Care Of The Field. While most athletes may not consider the work that goes into maintaining their sports fields, Maryland baseball alum James Heffley (‘24) was actively aware of the science behind the turf that he played on.
When he wasn’t on the field as a player, Heffley was involved in the effort to provide effective outdoor athletics spaces for Maryland’s student-athletes. His experience as a sports turf technician with the Maryland Athletics’ facilities and grounds department inspired Heffley to pursue a career in agricultural engineering.
