⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF

Countdown to Kickoff. We have 44 days until Maryland football is back on the field inside SECU Stadium for its season opener against Florida Atlantic!

Running back Rick Badanjek (1982-85) holds the Maryland program record with 44 career rushing touchdowns, and ran for more than 2,400 yards during his collegiate career.

🐢 ONE BIG THING

🔼 Traveling To Terpsville. As a successful high school field hockey player in the Netherlands, Maura Verleg (‘24) was at a crossroads.

In Verleg’s home country, college athletics are not really “A thing,” Verleg said. For someone with aspirations of playing field hockey and pursuing a college degree, both appeared unattainable. She then began debating whether to give up the sport she’d played her whole life, or give up the opportunity to continue her studies.

It wasn’t until one of Verleg’s older club field hockey teammates committed to play field hockey for a university in the United States that she was introduced to the NCAA and the world of American college athletics.
