🔼 Future Football Format. With the addition of UCLA and USC to the Big Ten in 2024, the conference football schedule will look a bit different in 2024 and 2025.

The Big Ten is moving to a Flex Protect Plus model, which features a combination of protected opponents and rotating opponents. Maryland’s protected matchup moving forward will be with Rutgers.

🔼 United As One. In honor of pride month, the Big Ten recently brought together 100 attendees from its 14 schools at the inaugural LGBTQ+ Symposium.

Student-athletes, staff members and special guests alike were granted a safe space to foster a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and its intersection with the climate of Big Ten athletics.

🔼 Wade’s World. In case you haven’t heard, Lamonte Wade Jr. is currently one of the best hitters on Planet Earth.

The Maryland alum is hitting .285 this year for San Francisco, with a .429 on-base percentage and .480 slugging percentage. That’s good enough for a 151 OPS+ (meaning he’s 51 percent better than league average) and 2.5 wins above replacement!

🔼 Scholarship Winner. Maryland gymnast Sophia LeBlanc isn’t quite done with school - she has been awarded a 2023 Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship!

LeBlanc graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology this past spring, and will be attending graduate school in the fall for sports psychology.

🐢 ONE BIG THING

Maryland student-athletes crushed it on and off the field this spring semester, with a combined 3.217 GPA across all sports in the spring term.

There were 27 student-athletes with a perfect 4.000 GPA, and 153 earned Dean’s List recognition, with a GPA of 3.500 or better.
