🔼 Trusty Terp. Luke Shliger is the quintessential leadoff man. He gets on base a lot (.519 on-base percentage this season) and scores a ton of runs (87 this season alone).
In fact, in Maryland’s final regular season game against Penn State last weekend, Shliger scored career run No. 182, breaking a tie with Terp assistant coach Matt Swope to become the all-time school leader in that category.
Shliger is a big reason why the Dirty Terps have had as much success as they have had this year. You wouldn’t know that by speaking with him, though.
“I give a lot of credit to the guys behind me because I’m getting on-base, but it takes the guys behind me to help score me,” Shliger said.

🔼 Spartan Showdown. Top-seeded Maryland baseball kicks off Big Ten Tournament action tonight at 7:00pm ET in Omaha, Neb., against 8-seed Michigan State.
The Spartans played an important role in Maryland earning the top seed this week, as they took two-of-three from Indiana last weekend to allow the Terps to leapfrog the Hoosiers in the conference standings.
As a team, Michigan State is hitting .303 on the year, behind only Maryland in the Big Ten. The pitching staff has earned a 5.50 ERA this season, good enough for fifth in the conference.
🔼 Journey Complete. Graduation is the culmination of one journey and the start of another - and always something to celebrate!
The University of Maryland celebrated its spring graduates on Monday, with 117 student-athletes participating in the ceremonies.
🔼 Pigskin POY. The accolades keep on rolling in for Jahmir Young - the Maryland men’s basketball star was named The Pigskin Club of Washington’s 2023 Collegiate Player of the Year on Sunday.
The organization, formed in 1938, aims to honor the achievements of high school and college athletes, as well as coaches and community members who are impactful.
The award has extra meaning for Young - his great grandfather, John Lorenzo Young, was a founding member of The Pigskin Club of Washington.

🤔 TERPS TRIVIA
Most Since? Yesterday’s trivia was about Nick Lorusso breaking the Big Ten record for RBI in a single season. We still can’t believe he’s driven in 96 runs this season.
Today’s question is more broad - when was the last time anyone, from all of Division-I baseball, matched his 96 RBI?

🐢 ONE BIG THING
Every spring, students around the nation reach the pinnacle of their college career - graduation. For Maryland’s student-athletes, graduation is the culmination of years of hard work on and off the arena of athletic competition.
