🔼 Friday Night Lights. Maryland football after dark is back - the Terps have announced their home game against Virginia this fall will be played on Friday, Sept. 15 at SECU Stadium.
Maryland has won three of its last four Friday games - NC State in the 2022 Dukes’ Mayo Bowl, Illinois in 2021, and Minnesota in 2020.
🔼 Over Early. You’re going to read this and think it’s a lie or a typo, but we assure you, it’s not - the Dirty Terps scored 17 runs in the second inning of their midweek contest against UMBC, ending any sense of drama in the game. Maryland went on to win 24-11.
As you can imagine, the 17-run second inning was a program record. Kevin Keister led the way with five RBI, with Luke Shliger and Jacob Orr right behind at four apiece.
There’s no doubt the Terps are itching to get right back at it tonight, and lucky for them, they play at Georgetown at 6:30pm ET. Tonight will be the rubber match between the Terps and Hoyas, as both teams have taken a game from the other this season.
🔼 Starting To Stretch. Maryland softball’s stretch run is about to start, hosting Coppin State tonight with just eight regular season games remaining.
The Terps have been fantastic in the non-conference this year, posting a 24-5 record outside of Big Ten play. In the opposing dugout, Coppin State owns a 11-24 overall record this year, but rolls into town riding a three-game win streak thanks to a sweep of NC Central last weekend.
🔼 None Better. Eddie Hacopian was the best player in the Big Ten last week. As such, he has been named Big Ten Player of the Week.
The first baseman had more knocks than outs, hitting .550 for the week, including four home runs and 11 RBI in five games. He hit .429 in the Purdue series, leaving a major imprint on that series win.
🔼 Staff Solidified. Maryland field hockey head coach Missy Meharg has her staff locked in.
Scott Tupper will now serve as the associate head coach, Kasey Tapman Asper will enter her fifth coaching season as recruiting coordinator, and Natalie Hunter Cyrus returns to Maryland as a goalkeeper specialist.

Home Cookin’. The Big Ten announced the 2023-24 men’s basketball series matchups on Tuesday. Maryland has home contests against Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, and Purdue.
