🔼 Gold Stars. Maryland women’s basketball got the best of Illinois in its second annual Paint It Gold Game on Saturday, winning 90-82 to earn its 12th win of the season.

The game remained close for much of the afternoon, until Jakia Brown-Turner took over and scored 12 straight Maryland points to build an 80-69 lead. She finished with 20 points, grabbing her second double-double of the season with 10 rebounds as well.

🔼 Comeback Falls Short. Down by as many as 15 points in the first half on Sunday against Michigan State, Maryland men’s basketball came all the way back to take the lead with less than nine minutes left, but ultimately fell 61-59 to the Spartans.

Jahmir Young, Donta Scott and Julian Reese combined to score all 27 points for the Terps during their second-half comeback. Young finished with a team-high 19 points, Scott finished with 16, and Reese with 10.

🔼 Sorry, George. It wasn’t a great weekend for schools with ‘George’ in the name against Maryland women’s tennis — the Terps swept Georgetown, 7-0, early on Saturday before taking down George Washington by the same score in the afternoon!

🔼 Won-And-0. No. 23 Maryland gymnastics picked up a win in its Big Ten opener over the weekend, 196.450-195.550 over visiting Rutgers.

🔼 Race Ya There. The Hokie Invite was the platform for Maryland track & field over the weekend, with several impressive performances from the Terps.

Rhys Allen set a personal best and finished second in the men’s shot put with a throw of 16.72m, Jayla Bynum tied a PR and placed second in the women’s shot put with a throw of 15.70m, and Anna Coffin finished third in the women’s 800m with a time of 2:12.62, a PR.

🔼 Two Tough Ones. No. 25 Maryland wrestling dropped a pair of tough matches against No. 7 Ohio State and Indiana over the weekend.

The Terps fell 38-4 against the Buckeyes on Friday, with Jaxon Smith earning the one win on the night at 197 pounds.

Sunday was much closer, with Maryland coming close to flipping the result in a 21-15 loss to the Hoosiers. Braxton Brown (133 pounds), Kal Miller (141), Ethen Miller (149) and Smith (197) all earned wins.
