🔼 Comeback Complete! Down 18-6 after the first quarter and 38-29 at halftime, No. 7 Maryland women’s basketball stormed all the way back on the road at Purdue on Saturday, winning 78-69 to improve to 10-0 and begin the Big Ten season at 1-0.

Saylor Poffenbarger led the way with 17 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Christina Dalce with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Bri McDaniel (16 points), Kaylene Smikle (13 points) and Shyanne Sellers (12 points) all scored in double figures, too.

🔼 Back And Forth. Maryland men’s basketball switched leads with No. 8 Purdue 15 times on Sunday, but ultimately fell, 83-78, to the Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ind.

Derik Queen scored a career-high 26 points for the Terps and grabbed 12 rebounds. Ja’Kobi Gillespie scored 18 points, followed by Rodney Rice and Selton Miguel, who both scored 13 points.

🔼 Sunday Fun Day. More than 20 Maryland wrestlers competed at the George Mason Patriot Open on Sunday, highlighted by five top-five finishes and a title from Jaxon Smith at 184 pounds.

Chase Mielnik (197 pounds) and Dario Lemus (141 pounds) both finished second, while Kal Miller (149 pounds) and Mekhi Neal (157 pounds) both finished fifth.

🔼 Broken Records. Maryland track and field got off to a fast start to its indoor season, winning five events and setting three records at the Navy Invitational.

Armanie Coleman set a program and facility record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.69, and Chioma Njoku set a facility record in the weight throw with a toss of 20.66m. Simone Cooper won the shot put in her first collegiate meet, Katerina Talanova won the 1,000 meters, and Samantha Payne won the 500 meters.

🔼 Flipping Out. Maryland gymnastics kicked off its season on Sunday with the annual Red vs. Black meet!

🔼 Standing Out. Four members of the Maryland field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association’s All-Mid Atlantic Region Team last week!

Emma DeBerdine, Hope Rose and Josie Hollamon were named to the First Team, while Alyssa Klebasko earned Second Team honors.
