📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Cat Scratch. Maryland men’s basketball and Northwestern both landed punches in a heavyweight bout Wednesday night in Evanston, but in the end it was the Wildcats on top, 72-69.

Jahmir Young was fantastic for the Terps, scoring 36 points and dishing out five assists, 28 of those points coming in the second half.

🔼 Bested By The Bucks. Maryland women’s basketball and No. 18 Ohio State were neck and neck all night on Wednesday, but the Buckeyes made a few more plays down the stretch to pull out a 84-76 win at the XFINITY Center.

Bri McDaniel, Jakia Brown-Turner and Lavender Briggs all scored 16 points for the Terps, who had their 19-game home win streak snapped.

🔼 Frese’s Foundation. Kim McFarland was Brenda Frese’s first recruit as the head coach of Maryland women’s basketball.

Not as a player, but as a student manager. Despite not suiting up for the Terps, she made a lasting impact on the program.

Now battling multiple myeloma, Frese has shown McFarland the same kind of dedication her former manager showed her when she first arrived in College Park.

North, the Terps’ 157-pounder, came up with a huge top-15 upset pin against Northwestern that helped Maryland secure its first Big Ten victory of the season.
