🔼 Queen’s Throne. Maryland men’s basketball dominated its season opener against Manhattan on Monday, 79-49, and received one of the most impressive collegiate debuts in memory from Derik Queen, who scored 22 points and pulled down 20 rebounds.
The 20-20 game was the first for a Terp since Joe Smith had 31 points and 21 rebounds against Texas in the NCAA Tournament in 1995. Ja’Kobi Gillespie added 16 points, and Rodney Rice rounded out the double-figures scorers with 12 of his own.
Maryland is back on the court this Friday at home against Mount St. Mary’s at 8 p.m.

🔼 Road Winners. No. 18 Maryland women’s basketball got its season started with a win on the road Monday, beating UMBC, 74-32, in Baltimore.
Christina Dalce posted a double-double in her first game as a Terp, scoring a team-high 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Shyanne Sellers scored 12 points and added six rebounds, and Allie Kubek scored 11 points and collected eight boards.
Next up for the Terps is their home opener this Thursday at 6 p.m. against Coppin State.

🔼 Top Terp. Maryland field hockey’s Hope Rose led Maryland to a 4-2 road victory over No. 17 Penn State, scoring twice against the Nittany Lions. Rose also recorded an assist in the first quarter. She now has extended her scoring streak to four consecutive games and increased her season total to a team-leading 11 goals.
Under Armour has produced limited edition merchandise available exclusively for new members of the One Maryland Collective. The merchandise features a vintage logo that will be exclusive to Under Armour.
The “Terrapin Throwback” initiative was inspired by Coach Locksley, who last year started wearing one-of-a-kind hoodies featuring vintage marks. The unique hoodies were quickly noticed on social media and message boards, and demand quickly mounted.
