🔼 Can’t Count ‘Em Out. Down 40-28 at halftime to Villanova on Sunday, Maryland men’s basketball came storming back in the second half, winning 76-75 to claim the Saatva Empire Classic championship in Newark, N.J.

Derik Queen led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Julian Reese also added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Rodney Rice (16) and Ja’Kobi Gillespie (12) also scored in double figures.

🔼 Sunday Fun. No. 11 Maryland women’s basketball outscored Saint Francis (Pa.) 32-3 in the first quarter on Sunday and didn’t look back from there, winning 107-35 to improve to 6-0.

Kaylene Smikle (25 points) and Allie Kubek (20 points) led the way for the Terps.

🔼 Season Finale. Maryland men’s soccer had its season come to an end on Sunday, falling 2-1 to Wake Forest in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Terps finished the season at 9-6-5 overall, and made the NCAA Tournament for the 23rd time in the last 24 years.

🔼 Home Finale. Despite a two-touchdown day from Tai Felton, Maryland football fell 29-1 to Iowa on Senior Day at SECU Stadium. Here’s your postgame coverage from the final home game of the 2024 season:

🔼 Off To The Races. Maryland women’s cross country’s Rose Coats ran one of the best races in program history on Saturday at the NCAA Championships, finishing 61st overall, the best finish by a Terp since Rosalind Taylor placed ninth in 1988.

🔼 Bear Hug. Maryland wrestling earned yet another dominant victory on Friday, winning nine of 10 matches in a 43-3 triumph over Morgan State.

Tyler Garvin (125 pounds), Braxton Brown (133), Dario Lemus (141), Michael Pizzuto (149), Ethen Miller (157), John Martin Best (165), Jaxon Smith (184), Chase Mielnik (197) and Seth Nevills (285) all earned wins.

🔼 Spartan Set. Maryland volleyball fell on Saturday in its second of two matches in the state of Michigan this weekend, 3-0 to Michigan State in East Lansing.

The Terps are on the road again this Friday at Rutgers, before welcoming No. 2 Nebraska to the XFINITY Center Main Court on Saturday at 7 p.m.

🔼 Terrapin Legend. Former Maryland football coach Ralph Friedgen was awarded the Coaches Legacy Award at the 63rd Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame induction banquet at Martin's West in Baltimore over the weekend!

Friedgen is the third recipient of the award that was created in 2022. Gary Williams and Chris Weller were the first two honorees. The Coaches Legacy Award is given to leaders whose lifetime career has brought honor and distinction to Maryland sports.
