🔼 Nice Touch. No. 11 Maryland women’s basketball moved to 5-0 on Sunday, beating Towson 98-63 at XFINITY Center.
The Terps shot 65% from downtown (11-of-17), and were led by Kaylene Smikle with 21 points. Sarah Te-Biasu (13), Christina Dalce (13 points, 10 rebounds), Saylor Poffenbarger (12) and Shyanne Sellers (10 points, 10 assists) each scored in double figures.
🔼 Less Than Zero. Maryland wrestling picked up its third straight dual victory to open its season over the weekend, beating American 38 to -1 at South Carroll High School in Sykesville, Md.
Chase Mielnik (197 pounds) and Jaxon Smith (184) both earned pins in their matches. The shutout was the first for the Terps since defeating Duke 37-0 in 2022.
🔼 Championship-Bound. Maryland cross country’s Rose Coats is headed to the NCAA Championship this coming weekend in Madison, Wis., earning an automatic bid after finishing eighth at this past weekend’s NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Coats is the sixth Terp in program history to qualify for the NCAA Championship, and the first since Emily Bracher in 2018.
🔼 Close Call. Maryland men’s basketball suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, losing narrowly to No. 15 Marquette, 78-74.
Derik Queen and Ja’Kobi Gillespie both scored 24 points for the Terps. Queen added seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

🔼 Back-And-Forth. Maryland football and Rutgers changed leads five times on Saturday, but it was the Scarlet Knights who ultimately earned a 31-17 win at SECU Stadium. Here is your postgame coverage:
🔼 Split It. Maryland volleyball earned a split over the weekend, traveling to Columbus and taking down Ohio State in four sets on Friday before returning home and falling to No. 4 Penn State in four sets.
Samantha Schnitta broke Maryland’s single-season service ace record in the win over the Buckeyes, collecting seven to move her total to 74. She added three more against the Nittany Lions to push her total to an NCAA-leading 77.

🔼 Blue Devil Battle. No. 5 seed Maryland field hockey fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 6 seed Duke on Friday, 1-0, in Chapel Hill, N.C.
This was No. 5-ranked Maryland’s 36th NCAA tournament appearance in program history. The Terps finished the season with a 13-7 record.

🔼 Direct Impact. University of Maryland track and field student-athlete Katie Altieri was recently named a Dr Pepper Go Teach Tuition Giveaway winner.
The College Football Playoff Foundation and Dr Pepper collaborate on an annual award to provide tuition assistance to deserving education majors across NCAA conference partners. Their institutions select student-athletes interested in pursuing teaching or coaching careers. Altieri, a senior human development major, was awarded a $2,500 tuition stipend for her nomination.
