It’s been 20 years since “Overtime Was Our Time” and now it’s time to celebrate. Brenda Frese brought a title to College Park in just her fifth season at the helm. She had a roster full of young talent that all blossomed into superstars at the same time. Maryland reached the peak of college basketball for the first time and the program’s been flourishing since.

🔼 Illini Fight. No. 7 Maryland women’s basketball suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday afternoon, falling on the road at Illinois, 73-70.

Yarden Garzon played a big role for Maryland with 17 points and seven rebounds. Saylor Poffenbarger helped the offense find its flow, dishing six assists as a part of her 15-point, eight-rebound game.

When Brenda Frese came to Maryland, one of her first recruits was someone who never recorded a minute in the score book but was the heartbeat behind the 2006 National Championship team. Kim Lynch McFarland, women’s basketball student manager from 2002-2006, now faces her toughest matchup — a battle with cancer.
