🐢 The Official Daily Newsletter For Maryland Athletics

Good morning, Terps! To quote Dorothy, there’s no place like home.. there’s no place like home.

The Terp wrestling and gymnastics squads are enjoying that statement this weekend with two conference openers on the docket.

The Maryland women's basketball team will play in the inaugural Coretta Scott King Classic on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 with the Terrapins taking on Texas at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The Coretta Scott King Classic (CSKC) was formed to honor the legacy of Mrs. King and celebrate female empowerment in sports. Check out what Maryland Junior Guard Bri McDaniel and Senior Forward Amari DeBerry have to say about the importance of playing in this inaugural event.

🔼 Home Sweet Home. Coming off a historic weekend up north, the Maryland wrestling squad is back in the friendly confines of XFINITY Center Pavilion for its Big Ten home opener when Wisconsin comes to town TONIGHT for a 7 pm showdown.

It will mark the first time the two Big Ten foes have faced each other since the 2021-22 season.

Tonight’s match marks the start of a four-match homestand for Maryland, also hosting Illinois (Jan. 24), Iowa (Feb. 2) and Rutgers (Feb. 7) in that span.

🔼 Battlin’ The Bruins. A top-25 matchup is on the docket this weekend for the Terps gymnastics squad.

Maryland, who enters this weekend ranked #23 nationally, plays hosts to the 11th-ranked Bruins, who visit College Park for a Saturday evening showdown.

Things will kick off around 7:30 at the XFINITY Center. Admission is free, but we expect a record crowd, so please arrive early.

🔼 Spotlights On Us. The eyes of the nation will be right on a quartet of former Terps as the Ravens square off against Buffalo on Sunday night in the primetime matchup on CBS.

Kickoff time is set for 6:30 in Orchard Park.

🔼 Lacin’ Em Up. Sure it may be cold outside, but on the track, the Terps are just heating up.

After opening the indoor season back in December, the indoor track & field squad is back in action this weekend when it heads to the Nittany Lion Challenge in State College tomorrow.

🔼 Workin’ Overtime. Thursday night in Evanston surely wasn’t for the faint of heart.

In a game that featured 16 ties and 15 lead changes, the Maryland men’s hoops squad dropped an overtime heartbreaker, 76-74, to Northwestern.

Julian Reese poured in a team-high 23 points, while Ja’Kobi Gillespie (14 pts) and Rodney Rice (10 pts) were the other two Terps in double-figures.
