Big Thursday On Tap In College Park!

🐢 The Official Daily Newsletter For Maryland Athletics

Good Morning Maryland Fam. Throughout the 90s, Thursdays were Must See TV nights. With Friends, Seinfeld and so many other classic sitcoms, it was appointment TV.

Today, it’s “Must Be In College Park” for all Terps fans.

A HUGE Thursday is on tap and we’ll get you all ready for the big few days on campus.

What else do we have brewing today? Check it out below!

🥍 Showtime!
⚾️ And.. Here… We… Go!
🏀 Battle Partners
🐢 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Showtime! 60 minutes.

That’s all that separates the Maryland women’s lacrosse team from yet another trip to the NCAA Semifinals. The Terps are looking to reach the Final Four for the 13th time in the past 15 seasons when they take on Florida at 12 pm today in College Park.

Entering today, Maryland sits at 14-5 overall, including six regular season wins over top-25 teams.

This afternoon’s matchup is a rematch of an early season overtime thriller, in which Florida pulled out a 13-12 victory.

🔼 And….Here… We… Go. (Joker Voice) After taking in the women’s lacrosse game, you can grab a quick dinner, check your emails and shoot on over for a HUGE series at The Bob as Penn State visits College Park.

This year’s Terps are certainly testing the fingernails of their followers, having won 11 games in their final at-bat already this year and have 18 comeback victories on the season.

With the final week of the conference season on tap, the Terps find themselves locked in a battle of five teams fighting for the final two spots in the conference postseason.

Maryland, who has won eight of their past 10 games, is looking to secure one of those spots with a series vcitory this week. The Nittany Lions are one of the other five teams fighting for a spot in the Big 10 Tournament.

🔼 Battle Partners. No better way to be battle tested than taking on one of the country’s best.

That’s what the Maryland men’s basketball program secured this week with the announcement of a home-and-home series with Marquette, a program that has been ranked among the top-10 for much of the past two seasons.

The Golden Eagles will visit the XFINITY Center on Nov. 15, 2024, while the Terps will make the trip to Milwaukee during the 2025-26 season.

The game could be an early season Top 25 match-up with both squads in several offseason 'too-early' polls by various media outlets.

The other previously announced non-conference game for Maryland this season was the Saatva Empire Classic match-up against Villanova at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Nov. 24, 2024.

🔼 Thunder Struck. Playoff basketball takes intensity to a whole another level.

Former Terp Aaron Wiggins is learning just that and he’s doing what he does best, help his team win.

Wiggins is averaging nearly eight points a game in just under 20 minutes of action per night.

With one of the youngest rosters in the league, the Thunder are two wins away from reaching the Western Conference Finals, needing to win the final two games against the Mavericks.

🤔 TERPS TRIVIA

Who was Maryland’s leading scorer in the game earlier this year against Florida?

Think you got it?

Check out the answer below!

🐢 ONE BIG THING

🔼 Making An Impact. A scholarship to play baseball at the University of Maryland changed Kevin Martir’s life.

Martir, the former Terps catcher from 2013-15, was born and raised in East New York, Brooklyn, a place once notorious as the ‘Killing Fields.’ Baseball became his beacon of hope, leading him to a successful run with the Terps and a new life of opportunity. Now, he’s coaching the game he loves for the New York Yankees.
