Good morning! He led the Terps on defense with 85 total tackles. No one had more interceptions. No one forced more fumbles. Watch Ballhawk Beau Brade’s highlights this morning and start your Thursday off right.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 One Of Our Own. New Maryland head baseball coach Matt Swope continued to fill out his coaching staff. Maryland baseball alumni Tommy Gardiner has been promoted to Assistant Coach after serving two years as Maryland's Director of Player Development.

In his two years on staff, the Terps enjoyed two of their most successful seasons in program history—claiming back-to-back outright Big Ten Championships and the program's first conference tournament title in 2023. He’s also served as an assistant coach in the New England Collegiate Baseball League during the summer of 2022 with the Sanford Mainers.

🔼 Seven Up. The University of Maryland baseball program had seven players selected in the 2023 MLB Draft—the most for the Terrapins since 2015 and the sixth-most in all of college baseball this year. Leading the way was Matt Shaw, who became the highest draft pick in program history after being selected No. 13 overall by the Chicago Cubs, becoming the sixth first-round draft pick in program history and the first since Brett Cecil in 2007. With the selection, he passes John Hetrick who was taken with the No. 17 pick by the Detroit Tigers in 1967.

🔼 Around The World. After a three-week hiatus in play due to the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championship, the Premier Lacrosse League returned to action in full force last weekend and even with four Team USA Terps (Jesse Bernhardt, Michael Ehrhardt, Connor Kelly, and Matt Rambo) on the PUP list this week, Maryland was well represented in each of the four games.

Action resumes tomorrow, but check out some highlights below from all the Pro Terps' performances from the past weekend.

🔼 A Legend In The Building. Former Maryland head football coach Ralph Friedgen was inducted into the Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame after restoring the Maryland football program to national relevance during his decade tenure as the head coach of the Terrapins from 2001-2010.

Coach Ralph Friedgen ranks third all-time at Maryland with 75 wins, led the Terps to seven bowl games (including a pair of New Year's Day appearances) and helped the team win a school-record five bowl games.

🤔 TERPS TRIVIA

51 days until kickoff. Can you believe it’s only been two years since Maryland’s barn burner of a 51-touchdown season. No, we can’t either…

Our question today comes with a hint—out of all the receivers and running backs, who scored the most touchdowns for the Terps that season? (You can watch this highlight reel and count them up yourself if you’re having trouble.)

🐢 ONE BIG THING

In the club. The same organization that’s awarded hundreds of University of Maryland student-athletes their varsity letter jackets has also established Homecoming, enshrined dozens of Terps as Hall of Famers and even treated campus to the King of Rock ’n’ Roll.

The M Club, which connects former and current student-athletes, for decades has championed Terp engagement and success through mentorship, career development, promotional events and scholarships.
