🔼 Goin’ To Carolina. It’s official! Maryland Big Ten Champion Maryland is headed back to the NCAA Regionals for the third year in a row as they’re slated to face off in this weekend’s Winston-Salem Regional. Play starts Friday night with the Terps taking on Northeastern. The overall No. 1 seed Wake Forest will play fourth-seeded George Mason.

The Terps are making their third consecutive tournament appearance, sixth since 2014, and ninth in program history. Last season, Maryland was the overall No. 15 seed and hosted an NCAA Regional in College Park for the first time in history.

The Opponents At A Glance

🐺 Northeastern and Maryland played earlier this season with the Huskies winning 9-2 in a mid-week game on May 9.

🎩 Wake Forest and Maryland have played each other a whopping 162 times, what with them being ACC rivals for many years, and we’re hoping that history (at least recent history) repeats itself. The last time these two teams played was in last year’s NCAA Tournament and the Terps were victorious over the Demon Deacons.

George Mason and Maryland have played 53 times in the two programs’ histories, most recently with the Terps winning twice last season.

The Winston-Salem Regional matches up with the Tuscaloosa Regional for the Super Regionals.

🔼 Pitch Perfect. Iowa had a runner at first and one out. David Falco Jr. threw a 1-1 pitch to the Hawkeye batter, who hit a grounder to third. Nick Lorusso fielded, fired to Kevin Keister at second who caught it, and then threw it to first. Eddie Hacopian caught the ball, completing the double play.
