๐Ÿ”ผ Ticket = Punched! Jump aboard the Amtrak, the Terps are heading to Philly!

An absolute classic from Long Island as the #7 seeded Maryland squad used an epic comeback to defeat #2 seeded Duke, 14-11, on the campus of Hofstra University and punch another ticket to the NCAA Final Four next weekend in Philadelphia.

After adding eight groundballs in the victory, Luke Wierman became the program's leader in career groundballs. He now has 456, passing Andy Claxton (1989-92), who had 451 career groundballs. Wierman won 20-of-29 faceoffs to add to his other career program record. He also added two goals in the game to match his career-high output.

Ryan Siracusa (three goals and an assist) recorded his first career hat trick, finishing with a career-high four points. Zach Whittier supplied two assists.

๐Ÿ”ผ Power Pair. All season long, Courtney Wyche and Diamond Williams were dynamic for the Maryland softball squad.

Over the weekend, the veteran pair were honored for that prowess, both being selected to the NFCA Third Team All-Midwest Region.

Wyche was the leader of the Maryland pitching staff. She finished the season 13-15 with a 3.63 ERA. Wyche led the team in innings pitched this season with 183.2 and strikeouts with 243. Wyche finished the season first in the Big Ten and fourth in the NCAA in strikeouts.

Williams was a key member to this Maryland offense since transferring over from Coastal Carolina. She started in all 54 games this season at first base and led the Big Ten in putouts.  Williams would finish third on the team in batting average (.331) and second in hits (58) but would finish the season first in HRs (14).

๐Ÿ”ผ All Wrapped Up. They didnโ€™t only dominate on the court, they dominated in the classroom too.

Francesca Feodorov, Kallista Liu and Maria Budin each earned spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

The Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District Team, undergraduate student athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, both undergraduate and graduate student athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and need to be in the lineup for 70% of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.

๐Ÿ”ผ All Wrapped Up. It wasnโ€™t the way the Terps wanted to end, but the conclusion of the 2024 season came for the Maryland baseball squad over the weekend.

The Terps dropped three games to Penn State as the Nittany Lions snuck in to grab the final Big Ten tournament spot.

Maryland finishes the year 34-22.
