🔼 She’s The Boss. If you’re gonna score your first collegiate brace, having it come against a top-5 opponent is the perfect time to do it. Hannah Boss scored a career-high two goals and No. 9 Maryland field hockey came away with a statement win over No. 5 Iowa by a score of 4-1 in their first of two matches this weekend. The Terps also got goals from Nathalie Fiechter and Sammy Popper, while Alyssa Klebasko made three saves.
The four goals the Terps scored are the most anyone has scored against the Hawkeyes since Oct. 29, 2017. The four goals also tie the most Maryland has ever scored against Iowa, equaling the four the team scored in 2016.
Maryland picked up right where they left off with a 2-1 victory over Indiana on Senior Day yesterday, thanks to an early goal from Margot Lawn and Maci Bradford netting her eighth goal of the year for the eventual game-winner.
📅 The Terps head to Northwestern this Thursday for their final regular season game of the year. This game will begin at 4pm and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
🔼 Wrapped Up. Maryland women’s soccer closed out their 2023 season with a 2-0 loss against No. 19 Indiana yesterday. In honor of their last home game, Maryland's seven seniors were recognized alongside their families before the start of the match—Catherine DeRosa, Maggie Fralin, Caroline Koutsos, Sydney Urban, Krista Varrichione, Sofi Vinas, and Eden White were the graduting senior student-atheltes honored during pregame.
The Terps held this nationally-ranked Indiana squad to only two goals, keyed by junior goalkeeper Liz Beardsley who finished the match with four saves for a total of 67 saves on the season.
🔼 Bounce Back. Indiana scored in the 83rd minute to come away with a 2-1 win over the Terps on a rainy Friday evening at Ludwig Field. After the Hoosiers scored first in the second half, the Terps answered with a Stefan Copetti goal that was set in motion by great play from Luke van Heukelum. However, Indiana came away with the winner about 15 minutes later.
The Terps have one Big Ten game left to play (Sunday, Oct. 29 vs. Ohio State) and remain in contention for a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.
🔼 Snap Win. Speaking of beating the Hawkeyes—Maryland volleyball took down Iowa in four sets this weekend, snapping a four-match losing streak against a tough slate of Big Ten opponents. The team received a helpful push from their lively home crowd on Dig Pink Match in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Maryland controlled the first two sets, claiming a 2-0 lead with nine-point wins in each of those sets. After dropping the third set, the Terps regained momentum in the fourth frame and dominated the Hawkeyes to close out the set with an eight-point advantage.
🤔 TERPS TRIVIA
Much needed rest. Maryland football is back on the gridiron this weekend after some rest and relaxation on the bye week and they’re facing Northwestern—which reminded us of one of the most exciting game-winning plays we’ve seen from the Terps in recent memory.
With less than four minutes remaining and the game tied 24-24… this Terps running back rank 75 yards in 12 seconds for what would be the winning touchdown.

🐢 ONE BIG THING
An Efficient Exhibition. Maryland women’s basketball opened its exhibition season with a 103-37 victory over California (PA) at the XFINITY Center. The Terps used a nice blend of returning players and newcomers to take control of the game in the first quarter. Five Terps scored in double-figures led by freshman Riley Nelson with 23 points and seven rebounds.
