🔼 The Head Game. May is Mental Health Month and while the Terps have been preparing for the upcoming 2024 season on the field and in the weight room, this week, they prepared mentally.
Coach Locksley held a Mental Health Symposium at Jones-Hill House this past Saturday.
The open event saw attendees from members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Maryland football staff and many more.
Guest speakers included University of Maryland Head Team Physician & Assistant Director in the University Health Center Dr. Yvette Rooks, University of Maryland Director of Sports Psychology Dr. Kristi Hall, Psy.D., University of Maryland Athletic Mental Health Counselor Chris Williams, LCSW-C, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist and Director of Healthy Foundations Dr. David Driver, Lead Campus Pastor of Zion Greenbelt Larry Paige and Certified Breath Coach and Flow Facilitator Soul Cole.
🔼 Must See Thursday! Clear the schedules, we are one day away and you won’t want to miss being in College Park tomorrow.
The action kicks off at 12 pm when the fourth-seeded Maryland women’s lacrosse squad faces off against Florida at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
Grab a late lunch/early dinner, check the emails and then head over to the diamond when the Terps welcome the Nittany Lions to town for a critical three-game set in battle for one of the remaining Big Ten tournament spots.
🔼 Welcome Home. The Terps are loading up for next year.
On Tuesday, the women’s tennis program got a big addition with graduate transfer Danielle Hack heading to College Park.
At UMass, Hack finished the 2023-24 year with an impressive 22-8 record in singles play and 17-10 in doubles playing in the No. 1 spot for both. Hack played a huge role in helping UMass win the 2024 Atlantic 10 women's tennis championship.
In 2022-23 Hack was selected for the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team in 2021-22.
Hack comes to Maryland with a college career record of 55-23 in singles and 47-27.
🔼 A True GIANT. Nearly a quarter way through the MLB season, former Maryland star Lamont Wade Jr. is enjoying the best year of his career.
The former Terp has posted a career high .330 average and an on-base percentage of .472 that ranks near the tops in all of major league baseball.
🔼 She’s A Keeper. A rising star on the sidelines is headed to College Park.
This week, Maryland women's soccer head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer announced the addition of assistant coach Sara Butler to the staff. Butler will join the Terrapins' women's soccer program as the team's goalkeeper coach. Butler joins the staff from Saint Francis University, where she was previously the head coach for the Red Flash.
In the 2023 season, Butler became the fifth-fastest Saint Francis women's soccer coach to reach 10 wins at the program. Butler accomplished the feat in just 31 games at the helm.
